Shipping in a Rough Swell - T B Hardy RBA (1842-97)

T B Hardy was a renowned marine painter born in Sheffield. His scenes of the English and Dutch coasts painted in fresh vivid colours achieved enormous popularity in his lifetime and equally so today. His works are to be found in many major collections such as the Victoria & Albert and British Museums. This watercolour is still in its original frame & has been in the same private collection since the 1930s. Signed & dated 1891.
