Patio Canopy which can be freestanding or attached to a building is usually made from wood but also from metal. It provides shade from the sun or shelter from a sudden downpour. A freestanding example is the Rowlinson Sienna Canopy which has a retractable taupe coloured canopy cover whereas the Rowlinson Verona model attaches to the vertical wall of a house. A sun canopy shade sail is a low cost alternative being easy to erect and dismantle when required.
Pergolas
Pergolas, deriving from the Latin word pergula meaning "projecting eave", were introduced to England in 1654. A pergola is an architectural structure to filter sun and provide trellised support for climbing plants such as roses, honeysuckle and wisteria. A freestanding pergola separates the garden from the house and has the effect of creating a "garden room" in which a patio furniture set can be placed. A pergola can be stained or painted to enhance its attractiveness.
Patio Canopy
A patio canopy is a versatile means of extending indoor living to the garden in fine weather. Planters full of attractive foliage can be placed either side of the canopy with a garden bench or teak furniture set placed strategically under the canopy. Most types of patio canopy can be retracted when not in use.
Wooden Garden Canopy
Wooden garden canopies are the most popular type of canopy with the Rowlinson Verona freestanding wooden canopy making a beautiful architectural feature to any garden and a very popular purchase.
Rowlinson Canopy
The Rowlinson Latina Aluminium Canopy Pergola is also freestanding and benefits from a retractable cover making it quick & easy to operate. Conversely, the Rowlinson St Tropez Pergola Canopy is ideal if you have patio doors to exit your home to the garden as it is fixed to the wall above the patio doors.
