Wheelbarrows

A wheelbarrow is a small hand-propelled vehicle, usually with just one wheel, designed to be pushed and guided by a single person using two handles at the rear. The wheelbarrow is designed to distribute the weight of its load between the wheel and the operator so enabling the convenient carriage of heavier and bulkier loads than would be possible were the weight carried entirely by the operator. A wheelbarrow can be an essential item in a garden. Typical capacity is approximately 100 liters (4 cubic feet) of material. A two-wheel type is more stable on level ground, while the almost universal one-wheel type has better maneuverability in small spaces, on planks or when tilted ground would throw the load off balance. The use of one wheel also permits greater control of the deposition of the load on emptying.

Our wheelbarrows are carefully vetted for functional design, quality finish, solid engineering and above-average durability. Choose from the lightweight but sturdy Clipper 90L Wheelbarrow available in a range of colours or the Cruiser Wheelbarrow which is the first choice of all serious gardeners and is probably the most highly regarded wheelbarrow design in the UK, with perfect size and perfect balance. It also makes a great, Equestrian, Agricultural or landscaper's barrow.

For heavier, industrial scale use the County Mammoth Wheelbarrow 160-230L is an industrious and heavy duty wheelbarrow that will be able to handle any type of job available with single or twin wheels. Or there is the Samson Twin Wheelbarrow for those looking to move a lot of material in one go has the added benefit of a front tipping bar strut to add strength and rigidity.

Compost Bins

Compost bins are an eco friendly way of disposing of your garden waste and kitchen waste such as vegetable and fruit peelings. Over time this decaying matter will turn into a fine tilth of soil like material for spreading and fertilising your vegetable garden and herbaceous borders. In period properties and nurseries compost bins were traditionally constructed from brick with two or three adjacent bins to accommodate the various stages of compost. Today's homes and allotments are more likely to have wooden compost bins which are often designed to be aesthetically appealing as well as for their important role in the gardening cycle.

Wooden Compost Bin

Wooden Composter Bin

There is a wide choice of wooden compost bins on the market today and they are usually purchased as a flat pack kit for easy assembly. All types of garden waste apart from weeds can be placed in the wooden compost bin and in the autumn it is ideal to gather up all the fallen leaves to act as a base for putting in other material for composting. Wooden compost bins can be either square or rectangular in shape. The speeding up of the composting process can be achieved by adding a proprietary composting booster which is available from DIY stores.
