Thomas Miles Richardson came from a family of well known artists from Newcastle-upon -Tyne. His subjects were always of the highest quality especially his Italian landscape scenes. He was a skilled draughtsman with a good eye for composition being fond of bright colours and white heightening. This painting features a Martello tower on a hill with a fishing village in the background. Unsigned.
